The Buddha’s Path to Liberation
~ By Ajahn Jayasāro ~
The world of the senses seems very real. It demands our attention. It is intoxicating and addictive. It leads us to believe that the only alternative to sensory stimulation is deprivation and death.
Meditation helps us allay our fears. Through it we can discover a stable clarity of awareness that produces deep feelings of well-being and contentment. Taking a step back from the sensual world we become aware of its coarseness, and its inability to meet the most profound needs of the human heart. No longer dragged here and there by our obsession with the content of experience, we are ready to learn the true nature of phenomena. This is the Buddha’s path to liberation.
